The Crossing Church

Dear Crossing family and friends,  

Tom and Marti Taggett, Crossing leaders extraordinaire, recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. What a huge and uncommon achievement! Next time you see the Taggetts, give 'em a high five. Better yet, pull out a gift card and send them on a date! They deserve it :) 

That got me thinking--I wonder what percentage of people reach that marriage milestone? Well, I wasn't able to uncover that exact statistic, but here's what I did find:

Married couples who make it to...

   year   5: 82%

   year 15: 52%

   year 50:   5%

Look how quickly the percentage drops off. Only half of all couples make it past 15 years; many more drop off after that. What does it take, do you suppose, to be together for a lifetime? If God blesses you both with long life, what enables a couple to stay married 'until death do us part'?  

This Sunday we continue our February message series, No Ordinary Family. Our focus this week is marriage. What would it take for you and your spouse to wind up like Tom and Marti, 40 years and still going strong? Guest speaker Pat Manzo, founder of the local ministry Run for Freedom, will bring us some of God's wisdom on the subject.
