Paul is bringing his letter to the Corinthians to a close. But he still have a few more things to remind the Corinthians about how followers of Jesus function as the Kingdom of Jesus in action in this world.

1. How do you generally close your letters and emails? Have you ever received something with a strange closing?
2. Discuss what you notice about Paul’s instructions on giving in verses 1 - 4? Do you notice anything you’d expect that is missing?
3. What does it mean that we are to “practice” generosity? What obstacles do you experience to living generously?
4. Read Romans 15:25-33. Contrast the attitude of those in Achaia (in which Corinth was the capital) and Judea. For what reason(s) do you think Paul was afraid?
5. What are some other similarities you notice between the Romans passage above and 1 Corinthians 16?
6. Read 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. What are practical ways that you can live out these verses?
7. A common greeting and prayer of the early church was Maran atha which means “our Lord, come.” Read Luke 12:35-40. What does this parable of Jesus teach about his return?
