Some spiritual gifts, like leadership, administration, teaching, serving, giving, we’re pretty clear on. But others, not so much. Like prophecy. And tongues. Welcome to 1 Corinthians 14!
1. The sermon opened with a Klingon wedding at a Star Trek convention (Borg-cube wedding cake included). What’s the strangest gathering or ceremony you’ve ever encountered? Why do you think humans invent whole languages, rituals, and communities like that?
2. Paul opens this chapter with “Let love be your highest goal.” Why do you think he starts there? What happens when spiritual gifts get exercised without love as the goal? How have you experienced or seen this?
3. READ 1 Cor 14:1-5 Paul challenges us to ‘desire the special abilities the Spirit gives.’ Have you ever thought of spiritual gifts as something you could ask God for?
