1. How would you define freedom?
2. On Sunday, Scott made the statement that “Freedom not balanced with responsibility leads to lawlessness.” Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your thinking.
3. Describe the “good” that followers of Jesus want for others?
4. What “freedoms” or “rights” are difficult for you to set aside on behalf of the gospel?
5. Who is someone that has been significant in building you up in Christ? How did they do that?
6. Read John 1:14. How would you explain to someone how Jesus demonstrated the glory of God?
7. The early church theologian Augustine described love as “the motion of the soul toward enjoyment of God for His own sake, and the enjoyment of one’s self and one’s neighbor for the sake of God.” As you have followed Jesus, how would you describe the movement of your soul toward God, self, and neighbor?
8. Read 1 Corinthians 10:32. The phrase “give offense” means to be a stumbling block to someone encountering Jesus. What sorts of behaviors might cause you to “give offense” to your neighbors?
9. If you said to someone “And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ,” how would that make you feel?
