1. Read 1 Corinthians 7:17. In what areas of your life have you struggled or succeeded in living as this verse instructs?
2. What does it mean to say God is sovereign over our lives? (Google the definition if needed.) What does God’s sovereignty have to do with Paul’s teaching in 1 Corinthians 7:17-24?
3. From this week’s passage (7:17-40), summarize why Paul comes to the conclusion that to be married is good, but to remain unmarried is even better?
4. Think about the last significant decision you made. At what point in the process did you consider “what is best for my life in Christ?”
5. Read Matthew 25:1 - 13. What similarities do you notice between that passage and 1 Corinthians 7:29-31.
6. For those in the church, our calling is into relationship with Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:9). In another letter, Paul instructs us to “lead a life worthy of your calling” (Ephesians 4:1). What do you think Paul’s use of “worthy” means in this context?
